The Garmin nuvi 360 is the most compact and elegant all-in-one GPS navigation units on the market. This unit is so user friendly that my technologically challenged 85-year-old grandfather absolutely loves it. The voice prompts are loud and clear and give you plenty of time to prepare for turns and other upcoming traffic events.

While its most closely comparable competitor is the Tom Tom 910, there really is no comparison. The screen displays are both of excellent quality and bright enough for daytime conditions, and although the nuvi 360's automatic panning is not quite as good, the POI access is superior to the Tom Tom and can be navigated with greater ease than the Tom Tom, which requires extraneous and oftentimes cumbersome steps.

Despite its strengths over other units, the Garmin nuvi 360 does have some limitations. It is designed for simple point-to-point GPS navigation and isn't supportive of altering courses selected by the unit. The nuvi 360 essentially offers two route options, the shortest (distance) and the fastest (time). The mapping program's route selections, however, are quite acceptable in most situations. For point-to-point navigation, the Garmin nuvi 360 has no equal.

The nuvi 360 is Bluetooth capable which enables you to make calls with your cell phone with hands-free technology. If you don't need this option, you can save some money by choosing the nuvi 350; just make sure it has the low reflective screen and the version 8 maps. Whichever unit you choose, Garmin's website offers firmware updates that offer fixes to any software issues that may arise, as well as improvements in functionality as they are designed. As with any software package, check the site regularly for these updates.

The Garmin nuvi 360 may be one of the coolest gadgets I have ever owned and though it may have some minor shortcomings, I rate it a 5 out of 5 stars. You'll be very satisfied with this unit.
